I was going to buy a blendtec or vitamix either way. My husband and I debated about this purchase. I am enjoying my Commercial Blendtec Deal. You can even get a 2-year warranty from SquareTrade to ensure it lasts even longer. I researched like crazy before I bought this thing and I'm happy I did. Grab a juicing book and knock yourself out. You can blend anything, any fruits and veggies in your fridge, and as long as you balance fruits with veggies, it will taste good and you can hide in extra nutritional supplements, green tea, anything, and you won't taste any one ingredient because it blends so well. It's over 50% cheaper than a new machine that doesn't require so many presses of a button, but I'd happily press a button a few extra times a day to save $200 dollars. It works with other jars from, like the Twister and Wildside. That said, it's still faster and better than anything you will ever use, and it pulverizes anything in seconds. This thing blends everything, but because it was designed for use at coffee shops, it will require several cycles to do the job. If you blend thick shakes, pastes, green juices (including fruit/veggie skins, ice, frozen items, whole apples, etc), you have to press 2 about 3 times (and wait for the 15-second cycle to complete each time before pressing 2 again). Hi blends faster than 2, but you have to hold the button. Hi and Lo are pulse blend buttons that you have to hold. 2 is a 15-second blend on high speed (starts slow then builds). This device is pre-programmed for Starbucks. icecream shakes (needs more milke than I though to blend). I use this for everything! green smoothies (this machine eats up celery stalks and whole carrots.
1, 2, 3 (ghost button), 4 (ghost button), 5 (low), and P (high). You find that there are two ghost buttons and this machine has 30 pre-programmed blend cycles. The machine is an old starbucks one and it only appears to have two preprogrammed options.
Are you willing to pay return shipping if you are unhappy with the first one you get? I think purchasing from this company is possibly a gamble. Would I be getting something that I would hate looking at every day? To my surprise and appreciation the machine I recieved only had minor cosmetic issues. I was originally scared to find to what degree the machine had been used. To completely seal the Blendtec when in use, it is recommended that the Sound Shroud is removed and lid is held down. This allows the Blender to be used in high traffic settings. The lid of the Blendtec ICB3 is designed to allow air escape during high speed blending and does not seal completely. Please note: signs of use & wear on the outside of the unit, like the jar or the base, is to be expected. These units have been rigorously tested to ensure that they function as intended.
